Meet Our Staff

Dr. Wayne Goodowitz, DDS

Dr. Goodowitz was born in New York. Later, he and his family moved to Oklahoma City, and he attended the University of Oklahoma for his undergraduate studies, as well as the U.M.K.C. Dental School, where he received his D.D.S. degree. Dr. Goodowitz served as a dentist in the Army at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. After completing his military career, he entered private practice in Plano, TX. He started Dental Careers Foundation in 1993, where he has been serving as Director of Education ever since. He and his staff have trained hundreds of dental assistants throughout the metroplex. He is a member of numerous professional organizations as well, including the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Dallas County Dental Association.

Dr. Goodowitz’s hobbies include tennis, stone sculpting, golf, and travel. He and his wife Joyce have tow children who are grown and married, as well as four grandchildren.

Nellie Huntress

Nellie is originally from the Rio Grande Valley, and she has lived in the metroplex since 1983. She is a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) with 12 years of dental experience under her belt, as well as certifications in Radiology and Nitrous Oxide. In the last three years, she’s transitioned to the Front Desk as Patient Coordinator, and she’s been a clinical instructor for Dental Careers Foundation for three years.

When she has free time, Nellie enjoys spending time with her family outdoors. She’s also a big fan of both the Food Network and her own personal petting zoo!

Angela Meinen

Angela is from Gunter, Texas. She graduated from high school in 1994 and first started working as a dental assistant in 1994. Today, she’s currently working as an orthodontic dental assistant, and she’s been a clinical instructor with Dental Careers for around six years.

When she isn’t busy with work, Angela loves spending time with friends and family, as well as her two cats. She also enjoys riding motorcycles and spending time outdoors.

Beckie Oliver

With over 30 years spent in the dental profession, Beckie has experience working both chairside and in the front office of a dental practice. She has been an instructor for Dental Careers Foundation since 1993, teaching the Friday Lecture class. She loves being able to help students choose a rewarding career in the dental profession!

Beckie also works full time as the administrative coordinator for The Gerlach Dental Group in Plano, TX. When she has free time, she enjoys keeping herself busy with family and church activities.

Jennifer Smith

Jennifer is originally from Waco, TX, but she has actually lived all over the United States. She studied Dental Lab Technology at Texas State Technical College in Waco, and she has been a dental assistant since December of 1984. She has taught for Dental Careers Foundation since 1996.

Jennifer is married and has one son. When she’s not busy with work, her family enjoys traveling, gardening, remodeling their home, riding motorcycles, and camping.

Glorena Nicholson

My name is Glorena Nicholson. I was born in El Paso, TX, but have lived in the Dallas area most of my life. I received my associates of science in Dental Hygiene at Tyler Jr. College in 1979. I have practiced dental hygiene in Plano, TX for 35 years, 30 of which were with Dr. Goodowitz. I have helped teach Dental Careers for the last 5 years. I have been married for 30 years and have 2 sons that are grown and living on their own. I love cooking, sewing, knitting, boating and taking motorcycle trips with my husband and friends.
